What should I pack for the Siwa tour?
Pack comfortable clothing for warm days (30–35°C), a warm jacket for cold desert nights (10–15°C), sunscreen, a hat, sunglasses, swimwear for the salt lakes, and sturdy sandals. A scarf or buff is useful for the 4x4 sand safari to protect against dust. Your guide will remind you of the packing list before departure.

The 10-hour drive from Cairo to Siwa is long but scenic — bring snacks, water, and download podcasts or audiobooks. The road crosses the Western Desert with Bedouin settlements and military checkpoints. Rest stops every 2 hours are included. The landscape transforms from Nile Delta green to endless golden dunes.
Salt Lake Safety
The hypersaline salt lakes are incredibly buoyant but avoid getting water in your eyes — it burns intensely. Rinse off with fresh water after floating. Minor cuts or scrapes will sting. Wear old swimwear as the salt can fade colours. Bring a towel and change of clothes.
Desert Camping Essentials
Desert nights are cold even in summer (5-15°C). Pack a warm jacket, long trousers, and closed-toe shoes for the evening. A headlamp or flashlight is essential for navigating the camp at night. The stars are incredible — a stargazing app enhances the experience.
Eco-Lodge Experience
Siwa's eco-lodges use traditional kershef construction (salt and mud brick) — rustic but charming. Rooms have AC and private bathrooms but expect basic amenities. Some lodges have pools. Mosquito repellent is recommended near the salt lakes and palm groves.
